Michael Harmer is a multi-award-winning employment lawyer with over 40 years’ experience in workplace relations. During this time, he has provided legal and strategic advice in a number of major enterprise bargaining and change management initiatives and has built up extensive experience and expertise in all areas of workplace relations and safety law. This has included the conduct of some of the leading cases in Australia on sex discrimination and sexual harassment.

As the Chief Operating Officer, Derrick manages all operational and administrative functions at the firm and oversees the implementation of the firm’s strategy.
Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Derrick was an Executive of Coast Mountain Bus Company where he oversaw 260 staff in the areas of Finance and Corporate Services.
In 2019, Derrick was recognized as one of the Business in Vancouver Forty Under 40 winners. In 2014, he was recognized as one of the global Institute of Internal Auditors’ top 20 emerging leaders, based on professionalism, leadership, certifications, advocacy, community service and innovation.

As one of two Directors, Murray Thornhill is a leader in dispute resolution and litigation, and has led the business and government division of HHG Legal Group since 2003. Murray is an experienced, skilled and efficient commercial dispute resolution lawyer. He leads and coordinates our litigation, commercial and property teams. Murray’s practice focuses on dispute resolution for SMEs and individuals in construction, insolvency, employment, and trusts and estate litigation. He has represented clients in most courts and tribunals in WA and the Federal and High Courts, and has also advised substantial charities, school associations, principals, board members and other non-profit bodies on their unique legal challenges.
